Research

The Wheeler Memorial Library offers several resources for local history research, and maintains subscriptions to helpful databases for Orange residents and CWMARS library card holders.

  • The library's microfilm collection of local newspapers dates back to 1883, and is available both in house and online to researches. The online database is hosted through Advantage Preservation, and years 1883-1979 are available for free online via the databases page on our website.
  • We are also in the process of digitizing our more current microfilm reels; due to copyright laws, these are only available in-house at either Wheeler Memorial Library or at Moore Leland Library. We're currently up to 1999; the site to view these files is at http://wheelerma.advantage-preservation.com, which can be accessed on any of the library's public machines or on your personal phone or laptop. Check with staff for the username and password.
  • To assist your genealogical research the library subscribes to Ancestry Library Edition, which can be accessed from any of the public computers at the Wheeler Memorial Library by clicking here.
